This year Scottish Finals returns to Pitlochry Festival
Theatre where everything is gearing up for yet another superb Festival
among the hills of Highland Perthshire. The adjudicator for 2006 is
Michael OHara. Many of you will no doubt be Pitlochry regulars
who come to the theatres regular programme but for those who have
not been before this is your chance to enjoy Pitlochry hospitality whilst
enjoying what we hope will be the best ever Scottish Finals.
The organising committee have been working hard to try
to guarantee this. The Festival Hotel will be Fishers Hotel, right
in the middle of town (Fishers
Hotel ( reservations@swallowhotels.com)
01796 472000). The management have given us a tremendous deal with bed
and breakfast at £33 per person per night with no surcharge for
single bookings. If you fancy staying somewhere different please refer
to the list of accommodation in the February edition of SCENE. It contains
a range of establishments from hotels to modest but comfortable B and
Bs with a wide price range. Pitlochry is a busy place, even in April
so get your booking in now. This is especially true for Fishers
where rooms are being held for SCDA but they cannot be guaranteed beyond
April 8th.
There will be the usual opportunities for socialising with the theatre
bar being the centre of activities on Thursday and Fridays. There will
be a buffet on the Friday night. The party on Saturday night will be
in Fishers Hotel.
The 2006 Finals will also feature two events of great
significance in the life of the Association; on Saturday morning after
the official welcome to Pitlochry by the Chairman of the Community Council
a memorial to Ros Lane will be inaugurated in The Explorers Garden
and on the Sunday morning in Fishers
Hotel there will be an Extraordinary General Meeting to
consider the proposals to reorganise the management of the Association.
The theatre is already taking bookings, so if you want
the best seats you had better move fast. Not that there are any bad
seats in Pitlochry Festival Theatre, just that some might seem to be
better than others. All bookings should be made directly to the theatre,
www.pitlochry.org,
telephone 01796 484626. First curtain each night will be at 7 p.m.
