Tryst to stage charity show as tribute to Dorothy Tripney

Larbert's Tryst Theatre are staging a special production of their new play as a tribute to a much-loved club member who died last month.

Dorothy Tripney, the club's secretary, died after a long and brave battle with cancer.

Tryst President Frank Murray said: "The club has been devastated by Dorothy's death.

"She was a very popular and talented member of Tryst, appearing in many shows over the last twenty-five years. People will remember her last performance as Mrs Culfeathers in "The Steamie" in November. She was outstanding, and no-one in the audience would have guessed she was seriously unwell.

"As a tribute to Dorothy, we are going to stage our new full-length play, "Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off" by Liz Lochhead, in Grangemouth's Bowhouse Community Centre on Tuesday May 30 and Wednesday May 31 at 7.30pm. All proceeds from the show will go to Cancer Research.

"We hope that people will come along in large numbers to support the club and show their respect for Dorothy."

Tickets, priced £6 and £4 (concessions), are now available from the Tryst Box Office on 01324 715886.

A drink is included in the ticket price.
