Mitchells Roberton's Peach of a Citz Sponsorship

Mitchells Roberton, Glasgow's oldest firm of solicitors, is to sponsor the Citizens Theatre's Christmas show, "James and the Giant Peach", it announced today (Friday 22 September).

Adapted from the 1961 children's book by Roald Dahl, "James and the Giant Peach" is the action-packed story of James Henry Trotter, a lonely orphan, brought up by his cruel aunts Aunt Sponger and Aunt Spiker.

Then one day an old man appears from out of nowhere and gives James a bag of magic crocodile tongues…which he drops by mistake beneath a barren peach tree. Suddenly a single peach starts to grow. And grow. And grow.

The adventure begins when James and his friends - Ladybird, Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede and Earthworm - escape across the Atlantic towards New York.

Mitchells Roberton Chairman Donald Reid said: "We are really delighted to support the Citz, the brightest jewel in Glasgow's theatrical crown.

"Someone said "it's full of brilliant actors, a bit like the SAS with make-up". And the acting is indeed first-class, as is the entertainment value. The Citz constantly offers flair, vitality and novelty, and I'm sure "James and the Giant Peach" will be a huge favourite with family audiences this Christmas."

The show runs from December 5-30.
