British Final
25th & 26th June
Adjudicator
East Kilbride Village Theatre
| Oasis Youth Theatre In association with Oasis Academy Lord's Hill (England) |
One Million to STOP THE TRAFFIK (The Official STOP THE TRAFFIK play) by Mark Wheeller Original musical underscore by Dave Jones |
Oasis Youth Theatre is
based at the new Oasis Academy in Lord's Hill, Southampton. When Oaklands
Community School was closed down the sponsor of the new Academy wanted
our Youth Theatre to continue. Fortunately for us the new sponsor's
initial was "O" so we continued as OYT! Over the last 20 years,
OYT have had invitations to perform at the Royal National Theatre and
National Student Drama Festival. Two years ago OYT won the All England
Theatre Festival "Youth Award" with their performance of Graham
- World's Fastest Blind Runner. They have also toured in USA and France.
STOP THE TRAFFIK is... a global movement of ordinary activists from around the world who believe that people should not be bought and sold. We believe that when people act, things change. |

Thistle Theatre Company (Scotland)
|
The Hitchhiker by Lucille Fletcher
|
Thistle Theatre Company is based in
SCDA's Western Division, in a large town called Greenock. We were
established in 2004 and perform a variety of theatre styles including
one act plays, full length and musical productions. In 2009, many
of our members were part of SCDA's production of 'Tam O'Shanter',
which represented Great Britain at the IATA World Festival in Monaco.
We are delighted to be representing SCDA at the British Final in East Kilbride and would like to thank everyone for their support and best wishes. Appearing at a British Final is an honour indeed. Thistle Theatre Company is privileged to be flying the flag for Scotland and is looking forward to meeting friends old and new. |
|---|---|---|
| The Unknown Theatre Company (Wales) | Cotton Girls by Scott Tobin | Setting: 1959, an American funfair. The Company: The Unknown Theatre Company, Cardiff's leading Youth Musical Theatre company, is delighted to have reached the British Final, having only reached the Wales Final Festival for the first time in 2009, with Gary Owen's Ghost City. The company celebrates its 13th anniversary this year, and strives continuously to provide its young people with as diverse and challenging a range of performance opportunities as possible. The company has an extremely impressive track record which includes 44 full productions, projects with youth theatre companies in Japan and France, and two productions at the Wales Millennium Centre. In 2005 the company was proud to represent the UK at the World Festival of Amateur Theatre in Monaco. The next major company project is a production of Life, Actually: the company's third newly-commissioned musical. |
| Lurig Drama group Cushendall (Ireland) | Melody By Deirdre Kinahan |
Lurig Drama Group Cushendall was set up in 1972 to foster the love of drama in the Glens of Antrim. Our first festival experience came in 1974 and for the past 35 years our small group has established a considerable track record in competitions throughout the North of Ireland, culminating in this, our first serous foray into one act festivals. We are delighted to be here in East Kilbride for the British One Act Finals and are looking forward to a wonderful weekend of drama. |
