Eastern Division Full Length Play Festival

Postby jgh » Mon May 10, 2010 9:06 am

I think that the Eastern Division full length play festival, where an adjudicator comes to see the show, give a private adjudication and the winning entry wins a trophy is a really good idea. However I feel that there needs to be much more emphasis on advertising and marketing of the competition to the potential audience.

My biggest gripe is that, although I know a few of the entries from groups that I am involved with, I never know who is competing in the competition, and I know that I would try to see more of the competing productions, so more advertising of the participants by the SCDA would be a benefit to the groups participating.

The EGTG production of Closer by Patrick Marber last week has set a good standard, which it is now up to other teams to better.

If anyone else has productions which are competing, why not let people know as part of this thread, or
flag these as a special colour in the diary section of the SCDA Website, or
have a "Forthcoming entries in the Full Length play" section on the Website home page, or
suggest other ways in which this competition could be better promoted.

best regards

I do have to complement Susan on her review article on the Festival in the latest Scene, but it would be nice to find a mechanism to know who was competing in advance. Another idea is to have a list of entries on the SCDA Website festivals page, which could be extended through the year as more groups make entries.
