And the next evening's entertainment we are pleased to bring you is a night oot in the Birsay Hall on Saturday 13 August - once you've enjoyed the fun of the County Show come up to Birsay to enjoy an evening of drama! Our friends Bon Accord Players have managed to arrange a trip to Orkney as part of a mini tour with their production of the one act play, A Galway Girl, by Geraldine Aron and we're delighted to host them. A Galway Girl tells the story of a married couple from the early 1960’s to the 1980’s. It explores the plight of an Irish rural working-class wife who tries to keep family and finances together. We'll start the evening off with a showing of the recording made of SDC's own Jock & Blind Mary, and after a brief interval, move onto the live performance of A Galway Girl. Entry is £8 per person payable at the door (cash only) and we will also have a raffle on the go. No refreshments served but attendees are welcome to bring their own. We'd love to see a good turnout to support a south club coming up so please spread the word and join us in Birsay on 13 August. ... It can be difficult finding a play, particularly for young people and larger casts. I came across this website and thought I would share it. I haven't looked at the scripts but it looks user friendly and the performing rights seem reasonable and easy to understand.Carole WilliamsSCDA National Drama Advisor ... See MoreSee Less
